Part I. Terms of Use
1. About Open4Skills
Open4Skills is an interactive career exploration and planning platform that helps you understand yourself, explore career opportunities, plan your future, and complete practical and self-reflection activities.
The platform was created through the Erasmus+ project “Open Yourself for Career Skills”, No. 2024-1-LT02-KA220-YOU-000252201, co-funded by the European Union. Questions about the platform or your personal data may be sent to info@vvpi.lt.
2. Who is the platform for?
Open4Skills is intended for young people aged 13 and over who want to better understand their interests and abilities and explore possible occupations and career paths.
You can complete activities independently, track progress, receive a certificate, use the AI career assistant and, after the main modules, choose a consultation with a career professional or youth worker.
Different countries may apply different rules on consent for minors. If, under the rules applicable to your age and country of residence, parental or guardian consent is required to use the platform or for the related processing of personal data, you must obtain it before registering.
3. Creating an account
You need a personal account to use all Open4Skills features. When registering, you agree to provide accurate information, not use another person's identity or contact details without permission, keep your sign-in details secure and not transfer your account to another person.
During registration, the user must confirm:
I confirm that I have read the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. If parental or guardian consent is required under the rules applicable to my age and country, I confirm that I have obtained it.
If you believe someone has accessed your account unlawfully, change your password as soon as possible and notify us at info@vvpi.lt.
4. How may the platform be used?
Open4Skills may be used for personal learning, career exploration, self-reflection and educational purposes. Serious or repeated breaches may result in restricted or suspended access.
- Do not impersonate another person or use their account without permission.
- Do not deliberately provide false information to misuse platform features.
- Do not attempt to access other users' data.
- Do not compromise, bypass or disrupt platform security.
- Do not use automated tools to collect platform content in bulk without permission.
- Do not upload unlawful content or content that infringes others' rights.
- Do not use platform content commercially without prior permission.
- Do not otherwise use the platform in a way that harms it, its users or third parties.
In the event of a serious or repeated breach of these rules, we may restrict or suspend use of the account.
5. Platform modules
Open4Skills consists of five main modules. Each contains practical, creative and self-discovery activities. Modules are completed in order; completing one unlocks the next. Your activities and progress are saved so you can continue later.
- Career in the Modern World
- Self-Understanding
- Exploring Career Opportunities
- Career Planning
- Career Implementation
6. Your answers
Activities may ask for written answers, selections or other content. They support self-reflection and career exploration, so there is usually no single correct answer.
Do not include sensitive information unnecessarily, such as health data, national identification numbers, passwords, financial information or other highly personal data about you or others.
7. Certificate
After you complete all five main Open4Skills modules, the platform automatically generates a completion certificate.
It confirms completion of the platform's career exploration and planning pathway. It is not a formal education document, does not award a professional qualification and is not a licence or official professional qualification certificate.
8. Consultation with a specialist
After completing the 5 main modules, you can take the additional 6th module: a consultation with a career specialist or youth worker.
To use this function, after the consultation has taken place you may provide the specialist’s first name, surname and email address.
The specialist receives an email with a secure link. They enter their position and organisation and confirm that a consultation about your career actually took place.
A consultation may only be confirmed after it has actually taken place.
Once the specialist confirms the consultation, a certificate with an annex stating that you attended an individual consultation is prepared automatically.
9. AI career assistant
After completing the 5 main modules, you may choose to use the AI career assistant. Use of the AI function is optional.
- Generate your career report.
- Summarise patterns in your interests, abilities and choices.
- Help you explore possible career directions.
- Answer further questions about careers, occupations, strengths or possible next steps.
10. Important information about AI
The AI career report and chat replies are generated automatically. AI is not a career professional, and its information is not professional career advice.
AI may misunderstand your answers or provide incomplete, inaccurate or incorrect information or unsuitable career suggestions. Do not base important education, study, work or career decisions on AI information alone.
Discuss important questions with a career professional, teacher, youth worker or another competent person.
11. Platform content and copyright
The Open4Skills structure, learning materials, activities, text, graphics and other original content are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. You may use the content for personal learning and career exploration.
Without prior written permission, you may not copy or distribute a substantial part of the platform, publish activity collections or methodological materials, sell the content or otherwise use it commercially, except where permitted by law. Your own original answers and content remain yours.
12. Platform operation
We aim to keep Open4Skills available and stable but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation. It may be temporarily unavailable because of maintenance, updates, system or internet failures, third-party technology services or circumstances beyond our control. Features, design and content may also be updated or improved.
13. Liability
Open4Skills is an educational, self-discovery and career exploration tool. Its activities, methodological information, AI-generated content and other features do not replace individual professional career, legal, medical, psychological or financial advice.
Career choices depend on many personal circumstances, so we cannot guarantee any particular learning, study, employment or career outcome. Nothing here limits rights or liability where applicable law does not allow such limitation.
14. Account deletion and suspension
You can delete your account at any time in the platform’s profile settings.
When an account is deleted, associated personal data, task answers, the AI report and conversation history, and other personal account information are removed from the platform’s active systems, except for information we are required or entitled to retain for longer under applicable law.
After deletion, only anonymised statistical data about the user’s age, country and progress on the platform are retained. These data are no longer linked to a name, surname, email address, account identifier, task answers or other information that could identify a specific user.
An account is considered inactive if the user has not signed in for 12 consecutive months. At the end of that period, an automatic email warns the user that the account will be deleted in 7 days.
If the user signs in within those 7 days, automatic deletion is cancelled. Otherwise, the account is automatically deleted under the same procedure as a user-requested deletion, retaining only anonymised statistics.
An account may also be restricted or suspended if the platform is used unlawfully, these terms are seriously or repeatedly breached, or attempts are made to compromise platform security or the rights of others.
Part II. Privacy Policy
15. What personal data do we process?
Depending on the platform features you use, we may process the following categories of data:
- Account data – first name, surname, email address, age, country, account identification information, selected language and account creation information.
- Sign-in data: technical authentication data. Passwords are stored in a form that does not let administrators view them as plain text.
- Progress data: modules started and completed, activities, progress status and other data needed to operate the platform.
- Activity answers: written answers, selections and other information you submit.
- Certificate data: name, completed modules, issue date, certificate number and, where relevant, consultation confirmation.
- Consultation data: details of your selected specialist and confirmation status.
- AI-use data: selected activity answers sent for AI analysis, the AI-generated report and your AI chat messages.
- Technical data: session information, IP address, device or browser details and system logs where collected for security and operation.
16. Why do we use your data?
We process data to create and administer your account, provide Open4Skills access, save answers and progress, unlock modules, generate certificates, provide optional AI features, confirm consultations, secure and operate the platform, and answer your questions.
Data may also be used to comply with legal duties and protect legitimate interests. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising profiles or direct marketing unless a separate lawful basis and, where required, your consent exist in the future.
Anonymised statistical data may be used for platform usage statistics, evaluation of project results, reporting and improvement of the platform.
17. What are our legal bases?
The applicable GDPR legal basis depends on the purpose. Withdrawing consent does not make processing carried out before withdrawal unlawful.
- Performance of a contract or steps at your request, where data are needed to provide a chosen service, administer an account, save progress or provide a feature.
- Legitimate interests, for security, technical stability, abuse prevention, consultation confirmation and protection of our interests where your rights do not override them.
- Consent, where the law requires it for a specific feature or technology; you may withdraw it at any time.
- Legal obligation, where applicable law requires us to process certain data.
18. How are your activity answers used?
Your individual answers are used to operate the platform, save your progress and support your career exploration.
They are not published and other platform users cannot see them.
Only authorised persons and technical service providers may access them, to the extent necessary to administer, maintain or provide the platform.
When platform results are analysed for statistics, research, project evaluation or platform improvement, aggregated or anonymised information is used so that individual users cannot be identified.
19. Which data are used by the AI feature?
Only answers to preselected questions marked as suitable for AI analysis are used for the AI career report. Sign-in details, passwords and unrelated account data are not sent to the AI provider.
The platform is designed so selected answers do not request direct identifiers or sensitive information. Interests, abilities and choices may still legally be personal data and receive the protections in this policy.
Photos uploaded in platform activities are not sent to the AI career report or AI chat.
20. AI chat
After generating a career report, you may continue chatting with AI. Your messages and the context needed to continue the conversation are then sent to the AI provider.
Do not enter information unnecessary for discussing careers, especially identification numbers, addresses, phone numbers, passwords, health information, financial data or other sensitive data.
21. AI service provider
“Open4Skills” uses technological services provided by xAI (X.AI LLC) for its AI functions.
When you choose an AI function, the information needed to generate the report or answers is transmitted to xAI through an application programming interface (API).
Under the retention regime applicable to the xAI API, API requests and responses may be temporarily retained for security, abuse prevention and auditing purposes in accordance with xAI’s applicable terms.
xAI states that API input data and generated outputs are not used to train its AI models without separate permission from the client.
22. How long are the AI report and conversation retained?
Your AI career report and conversation history are saved in your “Open4Skills” account so that you can return to them and, where available, download them as a PDF.
These data are retained for as long as they are needed to provide the relevant platform function or until your account is deleted.
When you delete your account, the AI career report and associated conversation history are removed in accordance with the account deletion and retention procedure described in this document.
The AI service provider may apply separate technical retention periods in its own systems, as stated in its applicable terms.
23. Does AI make decisions about you?
No. The AI report and replies are informational recommendations.
AI does not decide which occupation you should choose or where you should study or work, award qualifications, or make legal or similarly significant decisions about you. You always make the final decisions.
24. Specialist data
If you choose a consultation, after it has taken place you may provide the first name, surname and email address of the career specialist or youth worker.
After receiving the confirmation link, the specialist may also provide their position and organisation.
We use these data only to confirm the consultation and implement the related platform functions.
The email sent to the specialist explains why they received it, identifies the data controller and says where information about personal data processing can be found.
The specialist’s contact details are not used for advertising or marketing unrelated to confirmation of the consultation.
25. Who may receive data?
Your personal data are not made public or sold.
Where necessary for a feature, data may be accessed by authorised staff of the operator, platform development and maintenance providers, hosting and infrastructure providers, email providers, xAI when you use AI, and public authorities where disclosure is legally required. Providers receive only the access needed for their services.
26. Transfers outside the European Economic Area
Some technology providers may have infrastructure outside the EEA. When you use xAI features, some data may be processed in the United States or other countries.
Where the GDPR requires additional safeguards, lawful transfer mechanisms are used, including European Commission-approved Standard Contractual Clauses.
27. How long do we keep other data?
Personal data are retained no longer than necessary for the purpose for which they were collected.
Account data, task answers, progress information, certificate information and other account-related information are generally retained while the account is active and the data are needed to provide platform functions.
You can delete your account at any time in the platform’s profile settings.
If you do not sign in for 12 consecutive months, you are automatically emailed a notice that your inactive account will be deleted in 7 days. Signing in during that period cancels automatic deletion. Otherwise, the account is deleted automatically.
When an account is deleted, either at the user’s request or automatically due to inactivity, account data linked to a specific person, task answers, AI data and other personal information are removed from active systems, except for information we are required or entitled to retain under applicable law.
After account deletion, anonymised statistics about the user’s age, country and progress on the platform are retained. They are used for platform usage statistics, evaluation of project results, reporting and platform improvement.
These statistics are stored in a way that prevents them from being linked to a name, surname, email address, account identifier, individual task answers or any other identifier of a specific user.
Certificate and consultation confirmation data may be retained longer if required by law or necessary for platform operation, but only where there is a lawful basis and they are necessary for the relevant purpose.
Some deleted data may temporarily remain in technical backups until those backups are replaced or deleted in the normal course.
28. How do we protect your data?
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, alteration or disclosure. These may include secure authentication, password protection, encrypted transfers, access restrictions, administrator controls, security updates, system logging and backups. No online system can guarantee absolute security.
29. Children's privacy
“Open4Skills” is intended for young people aged 13 and over, so we pay particular attention to protecting minors’ personal data.
Young people aged 13 and over may register and use the platform. However, the age and other conditions under which a young person can independently give valid consent to personal data processing may vary according to the law of their country of residence.
During registration, the user therefore confirms:
I confirm that I have read the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. If parental or guardian consent is required under the rules applicable to my age and country, I confirm that I have obtained it.
If such consent is required under the rules applicable to the user’s age and country, it must be given or confirmed by a parent or guardian.
Information for minors about platform use and processing of their personal data is provided in clear and understandable language.
30. Cookies and similar technologies
Open4Skills may use cookies, browser local storage and similar technologies necessary for operation, including sign-in sessions, authentication and security, selected language and essential settings, and core functions.
Non-essential analytics, advertising or tracking cookies would be used only in accordance with law and, where required, with your consent.
31. What rights do you have?
Depending on the circumstances, the GDPR may give you the following rights:
To exercise them, email info@vvpi.lt. We may need to verify your identity. We respond within GDPR time limits, usually no later than one month after receiving a request.
When information is properly anonymised so that it can no longer be linked to a specific person, it is no longer considered that user’s personal data.
- To be informed about how your data are processed.
- To access the data we hold about you.
- To correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- To request deletion.
- To request restriction of processing.
- To object to certain processing.
- To receive your data and, where applicable, transfer them to another provider.
- To withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
- Rights relating to automated decision-making where applicable.
32. Right to complain
If you believe your data are processed improperly, contact us first at info@vvpi.lt. You may also complain to a competent data protection authority.
In Lithuania this is the State Data Protection Inspectorate, L. Sapiegos g. 17, LT-10312 Vilnius, email ada@ada.lt. If you live elsewhere in the EEA, you may contact the authority in your country of residence.
33. Personal data breaches
If a personal data breach occurs, we will assess its nature, scale and possible impact. Where required by the GDPR, we will notify the competent authority and, if the breach is likely to create a high risk to your rights and freedoms, notify you as well.
34. Changes to these Terms and Privacy Policy
We may update this document when platform features, providers, data-processing practices or legal requirements change. The current version is always published on Open4Skills and the latest update date appears at the top.
For material changes, we will notify you appropriately and request renewed consent where the law requires it.
35. Governing law
These terms and platform operation are governed by the law of the Republic of Lithuania, without prejudice to mandatory rights under the law of your country of residence. We will first seek to resolve questions or disputes by mutual agreement.
